We were visited by the organisation Coppafeel, a nonprofit organisation based around the idea of breast cancer awareness. We had the task of creating advertisements for coppafeel in our own style, ones that had the chance of being picked by the organisation and used as actual posters for awareness.

Initially I had the idea of a slogan, that being “lend a hand“ but this developed further to have the idea of this slogan being surrounded by multiple hands. I felt this would stand out and add more interesting features to the idea I had, compared to just being text.

From this I practiced drawing hands in my propaganda sketchbook, I learned some technique helpful for myself in future should I need to sketch and draw hands again. The final drawings were scanned and then edited onto the blank poster.

To help enforce the idea that this was for breast cancer awareness I used the colour pink on parts of the design, the colour is commonly associated with breast cancer awareness so I figured it would help. I also included the website address for coppafeel.

Whilst I like the initial idea I felt the execution could have been better, however I feel like this was down to my inexperience with drawing. Starting on digital would make things easier in future but once again, I am inexperienced so would still need further practice on drawing. If I had more time I would have attempted to refine the designs and make it look more professional.

After designing this poster I felt I wanted to have fun with a design, I wanted to make a more humorous poster that was still spreading awareness. I soon came up with the phrase “Touch a titty” something that when presented to other students made them laugh (meaning my goal had been achieved). The idea to have a more humorous poster was so people wouldn’t feel so scared or nervous to start checking and talking about breast cancer.

To add more interest to the poster I decided to include the windows cursor clicking on the word “titty” as this would help make it bolder and add an iconic design.

This was the final design
