The first part of the circus was visiting before the performances had started and it was essentially empty. I utilised this time to take a selection of photos of different parts of the circus. Like most of my photos I took a look at the smaller parts of the circus rather than the entirety of it, I focused in on lights especially taking a range of photos. I took some in focus and others in blur to give an increased glow and make the photos seem 'dreamy'. I also paid attention to white balance as that affected the temperature of the photos. For the circus I felt a warmer style fit better because the idea is that it's run by a group of people who consider each other as family and it brings people together to watch these people perform a range of acts.
I also left the photos unedited, for this I wanted to show off the pure look of the circus and maintain it's genuine feel without enhancing it through editing. This is a very different approach to my normal when it comes to taking photos, usually I edit them so they look the best they can.
Whilst not every photo turned out the best in my eyes I felt a lot turned out better than I had planned. Specifically the portraits taken in front of a red light, they left an outline of light around the subject that I accidentally discovered. These were a few of my favourite shots, especially since they allowed me to experiment further with portraits.
I also particularly liked the photos of the lights hanging up around the tent that were out of focus, they felt dream-like, almost calm and peaceful. These had varied camera settings so I could get slightly different styles.
