I was told about the series by Alan Bennett named Talking Heads. It is a series of dramatic monologues that looks at a wide range of different themes with some recurring such as death and isolation. They feature a single character talking to the camera. In 2020 they did a remake of the original series with new characters written by Bennett, this was made during lockdown. I found this a really interesting concept, especially when I found out that the recent series was made with the restrictions of lockdown.
What I got from this is that I could use the idea of simply talking to the camera as an option, it's something that easily works within the confines of lockdown but still can deliver a narrative. I feel this also plays into the idea of the work being personal, having the character talking to the camera or even the audience builds a connection between the two. It makes the work feel more personal as it's made to seem like we are included in the narrative being told.
