Originally used for a mindmap, I finished the artwork I had started based on the album cover for Dark Side of the Moon. It represents light entering a prism which in turn forms a bright spectrum of colour. I used this as a chance to practice experimenting with my analogue based artwork, more specifically painting. Painting is something I've generally avoided since GCSEs which is another reason I wanted to finally revisit it now with this project, even if only as a small experiment. However for this I didn't want to create just a plain old recreation, instead I wanted to make some slight changes in my own style.

I used a combination of blue and white paint to create a 'smokey' nebula-like burst of colour instead of the traditional spectrum of colours. I then added the colours of the rainbow to this nebula, all of them taken from the original album cover, painting them as if they were swirling out of the prism together out into space.

These changes gave me the opportunity to experiment with colour mixing and twisting original ideas in new ways.

Overall, I felt really happy with this. Whilst it isn't fit for a final outcome on it's own, it was a good practice of unfamiliar skills and I may even try to incorporate it into the final work.
