This series of photos are a visual representation of themes related to the issues and struggles in life, for example depression, anxiety, deception, lies and relationships. Inspired by multiple sources of media with the most notable being Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, I created this series of work. The mask is meant to act as a physical representation of the idea to hide behind a mask though not for one reason. I chose an emotionless mask to better represent the ambigious meaning of hiding behind it. Possible ideas would be repressing mental health issues, censorship of information or protecting oneself from others for example. This part was another influence from the album, the dark side of the Moon being the dark of life. The rainbow covering a portion of the mask serves as a reminder to the good parts of life, how there is always a brighter, happier and more colourful side to things.
