After much research, development and overall thoughts in regards to the project, I have finalized my idea into one that will fit the current situations yet still closely follow my original plans. I aim to create a line of posters all inspired by my previous project, the original ideas I had for the short film and by the themes related to the moon (more specifically the album by Pink Floyd).
The first poster will be focused on the feeling of isolation, this was lightly inspired by my illustration work. I am aiming to feature a astronaut's helmet (either worn by a person or on it's own) surrounded by a empty darkness, not quite space as there will be no stars. However, in the same poster I will reflect colourful light into the visor inspired by 2001 a space odyssey. This is based around the idea that you can't see mental health, even the seemingly happiest of people still can suffer from issues such as depression and anxiety. It also acts as a reminder of hope. If I can't get a helmet for this then I will likely use a mask, using the cold empty smile design. I may also attempt to reflect the album cover for dark side of the moon as a nod in this project's inspiration.
The next is directly inspired by one of my original video ideas, this will incorporate the mask I had previously wanted. The first prominent shot idea is having a lone TV in a dark room, the TV will be playing a black and white news report with the news anchorman wearing a mask. This may feature overlays of the masked man in various darker and unusual poses, some making reference to suicide (such as hanging by a noose or the hand gesture of pointing a gun to their head). The purpose behind this is to create a very unsettling poster with a subtle context. The reason it is a news broadcast is meant to be a nod in the idea that the news almost controls us, there have been multiple cases of fearmongering and bias (a recent one being the entire COVID-19 pandemic). This poster is trying to portray it like a dystopian society seen commonly in film and books whilst still talking about very real issues that aren't just fiction. The unsettling poses overlayed are there to act like the darker secrets being hidden.
The final significant idea is one that will involve more mixed media, it will involve a painting based around the album art of dark side of the moon with some very distinct changes in style and design. The mixed media will be the combination of digital imagery and photoshop. I plan on adding an image of a spaceman seemingly falling or floating helplessly in space. It will cover the feelings of being overwhelmed and 'drowning' in this feeling. The idea of lack of control and essentially only being able to watch helplessly.
