It's no secret that a large portion of the media, most notably in the US, are extremely biased. This is based on how news stories are reported to the public, often with biased media it is widespread misinformation meant to be persuasive and highly influential. This has also had links to government and political influence, during elections many media outlets will produce articles and reports in favour of the parties and persons they support. Only some companies such as the BBC and Sky news remain unbiased and try to stay true to being factual and informative.

There are a lot of bias types, some of the more preveilent include coverage (where certain issues have more or less visiblity), gatekeeping (stories are selected and deselected based on various aspects such as political stance), advertising (where it favours or attempts to please different advertisers), fearmonger (using fear tactics) and many more.

This also relates to the mass confidentiality and censorship taken by multiple governments. Many governments often try to conceal information from the public eye for their own interests and agendas. Whilst there have been acts in place to prevent this, many have been overidden due to loopholes or flat out lies. Governments will use the influence of the media to help aid their cases.

One example is the case of Jeffery Epstein and his death. Many people believe his suicide to have been a murder, with multiple examples of evidence pointing to murder. According to multiple sources, the US government covered up the various very serious crimes commited by Epstein and his powerful friends. This is a very widely talked about investigation and cover-up still talked about today. It's a good example of government secrecy and propaganda through the media.

Another is the case of Grenfell tower, the victims had to stay in hotels for 6 months because nothing was done to help them. The government also took almost 3 years to give the victims valid answers. It caused a scandal that revealed low budget housing for the less fortunate resulting in very poor fire safety, much of this still not being resolved.

At the end of the day this is a very big issue that I am very passionate about, I feel like it is difficult to trust so many placed in charge when situations like this arrive. It gives the impression that the safety of the public isn't a major concern, only power and money. That is why I aim to include allusions to this theme in my final project.
